Introducing our newest producer!

In our newsletter this week, we introduced our newest producer, Jaha (Jay) Nailah Avery! Here’s a bit of what she had to say: “As a creative, I aim to be a vessel, providing spaces for people’s stories to be amplified. As an African American woman, my focus is on elevating the stories of African American people in ways that this country has previously denied—and that some continue to deny. As an Afro-Southerner, I enjoy incorporating the richness of Southern culture into my creative endeavors.”

Here’s a big welcome to Jay! We’re so excited to have her onboard, and we’re also eager to read her new book, “Those Who Saw the Sun: African American Oral Histories from the Jim Crow South.”
