We have always been committed to making the best show we can—and making it available for free. This is only possible with your financial support.

Most podcasts are funded by selling ads. That model requires a lot of episodes to be released as quickly as possible. But that's just not the kind of show we make. It’s not who we are.

Threshold is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and our work is funded almost entirely by gifts and grants. Nearly all our funding comes from our listeners. This isn't the easiest way to fund a show, but it is the way most aligned with our mission. And it's worked so far because of listeners like you who choose to support our in-depth, thoughtful, independent journalism.

Why now?

Our year-end campaign is happening now through December 31st. Your donation during this time determines what we can accomplish next year.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 before the end of 2024 and our partners at NewsMatch will match donations, meaning a gift today has double the value.

  • Donations directly support our reporting and production. We are a small organization with no physical location, so overhead and administrative costs are minimal. Our primary expenses are staff, travel, equipment, and online tools.

  • Yes, we accept gifts of stocks and mutual funds. Please contact Deneen Wiske at deneen@thresholdpodcast.org to explore these options.

  • Threshold has its roots in Missoula, Montana, where we were founded and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our small team works remotely and creates Threshold from around the U.S. and the world, so we do not have a physical location (or the associated expenses!).
